PAS128 provides a benchmark standard for the detection, verification and location of underground utilities.
Currently PAS 128 is a voluntary standard, but it is being adopted by most reputable utility survey providers. It provides four different levels of survey type.
Survey types
● Type D:
Desktop search. Location of underground structures determined by a review of existing records from service providers.
● Type C:
Site reconnaissance. Site walkover to identify utility features visible above ground.
● Type B:
Site detection. Site survey utilising survey techniques including Electro magnetic locating (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). There are varying degrees of sub-classification which will specify the accuracy of the survey.
● Type A:
Verification. Typically by excavating the utilities or lifting manholes to visually identify the utility.
Just Surveys Limited are able to provide reports to all PAS128 specifications.
